Mickey Mouse is a beloved cartoon character known for his humorous antics and is the iconic mascot of The Walt Disney Company. Created by Walt Disney and Ub Iwerks at the Walt Disney Studios in 1928, Mickey is an anthropomorphic mouse who is typically seen sporting red shorts, large yellow shoes, and white gloves. His popularity has made him one of the most easily recognizable figures worldwide. Mickey made his first appearance in a test screening short called “Plane Crazy” before officially debuting in the groundbreaking film “Steamboat Willie” in 1928, which was one of the initial sound cartoons ever produced. He went on to star in more than 130 films, such as “The Band Concert” (1935), “Brave Little Tailor” (1938), and “Fantasia” (1940). Though Mickey primarily appeared in short films, he also ventured into feature-length films on occasion. Notably, ten of Mickey’s cartoons received nominations for the Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film, with the poignant short “Lend a Paw” earning the prestigious award in 1942. In a defining moment of honor, Mickey was the first cartoon character to be bestowed with a star on the illustrious Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1978.
