However, prior to the events of the game, he was altered—his human conscience was transferred into him, but the consciousness was corrupted, transforming him into a monstrous entity. In his initial appearance, Huggy Wuggy attempts to disguise himself as a statue to deceive the protagonist. Once the player retrieves a key and restores power to a certain room, Huggy Wuggy vanishes from his pedestal. Throughout the game, he stalks the player from vents and other hard-to-reach vantage points. He only fully appears from the shadows in the dark, actively chasing the player through the conveyor belt tunnels. If the player fails to reach the catwalk at the end of the belt, Huggy Wuggy will catch and attack them with his sharp teeth. If the player manages to reach the catwalk, they must push a box to block Huggy Wuggy and then destroy him, causing both of them to fall. If the player survives, Huggy Wuggy falls into the void after colliding with pipes; it’s unclear whether he survives or is killed in the fall.
